BitTorrent Census

We all know that the United States Census will be in full swing this year, but, another kind of census was just undertaken by a senior at Princeton.
 
Sauhard Sahi decided to take a random sample of the types of files available over BitTorrent networks. His results are interesting.

2010 Census

It’s nice. I am sure that many people will get curious about it since a lot of people are wondering what Census required answers are on the 2010 Census. There is a good point to the US Census, as it establishes how many people live where, which is important.  That's all they want to know – where you live, how many people live in your household, not what you do for a living or if you've gotten quick payday loans recently or bought a hamster.  It's a short form, just fill it out – it isn't as if it's invasive or something unfair for the government to know.

 Don't bother kidd, it's completely meaningless. There are WAY too many questions about it, most of all, how they came up with the hashes int he first place - its not like kazaa where you can just search the stream randomly. So, as written, the whole 'study' is fabricated.

Well good thing my focus...,

is mainly on the culture, legality, and the practical applications as well as the theoretical with emphasis on participatory observation as far as research is concerned.

The technical aspects that you cite as rendering the census a "fabrication" will be the co-author with an M.S.'s job.....,that is if he's not tied up in some Rube Goldberg thing :-P

They also admit that it's just a sample, not a census. So the study is mistitled.
