Actionable Idea

Promote Software Freedom and CopyLeft

The Pirate Party should promote CopyLeft and laws establishing CopyLeft as replacements for unjust Copyright laws. When it comes to software, society should make laws to protect people's freedom instead of machine code. The GPL subverted bad laws to perform a public good.  The next logical step is to make laws that positively protect software freedom and the sharing.

Last year, Richard Stallman voiced some concerns about Swedish Pirate Party policy for software.

While at the topic of reaching out...

...I suggest perhaps a better forum-implementation than the current one? Don't get me wrong, this one is very neat and nice looking but perhaps it would be better with an already established approach based on open-source (I reckon the current one is not).

What I really miss is an ability to get updated on responses to what I write and similar things enabling a growing and vivid discussion. Is that possible with this solution besides by using RSS-feeds?

Cheers!

Blog, blog and blog again!

Regarding reaching out to people I think it is important to make use of the blogosphere.

In Sweden the political blogosphere has had quite a few successes in regards to using blogging as a tool of voicing opinion.

A first step for you guys, in my humble opinion, would be to endorse the bloggers of your party. In Sweden we have an excellent site for that which automatically keep track of pirate-blogs and publish them as kind of a hub for piratism:

live.piratpartiet.se

Flattr, a micropayment beta, is launched by Pirate Bay founders

Flattr, a social micropayment beta experiment, has been launched by the founders of the Pirate Bay. Here is a link to their website. Their website has a video that explains how the system works but I'll summarize it quickly. As a flattr member you will choose an amount to pay as a subscription fee every month. As you go through websites and find ideas, topics and content you like, you can click on the flattr button to add it to your list.

Dividing Access

We need to divide the access of all the parties accounts to more than one person.

A Treasurer for the paypal account
If we get some other money account, a different Treasurer
A team for the website
Someone to make announcements on twitter
A manager for the facebook page
A couple people for a youtube page
And more people for more accounts

Branching out from the Digital

Just a thought. Actually more of a nagging concern. Even possibly to the level of a biding apprehension.

I think the USPP should take a stand on some of the "major issues" abortion. prohibition. marriage. etc. I have a feeling we may be more inline in those beliefs than we realize. I suggest a forum vote process like the elections to get some numbers and then we can decide how stern our stances should sound for these secondary issues.

Announcement of Candidacy for Financial Officer

Ahoy, fellow pirates! My name is Shirley Runyon and I come before you today to announce my candidacy for Financial Officer of the United States Pirate Party. As someone who, in her first Presidential election ever voted for Anderson, has never been satisfied by either of the "big" parties.

Youtube Channel

Perhaps we could get a Youtube channel and put up some propaganda. It could also be a source of income if we allow advertisements. Is there anyone out there with a camera and the charisma of a news anchor? I have a little point and shoot photo camera that only does 640x480 and I definately don't have an amazing haircut. Actually, it would be best if there were a crew of people that could do it.

PP Illinois

I'm just curious to see the interest in setting up a branch of the Pirate Party in Illinois.  So have at it.  Questions, Comments, Concerns?

Ok, Let's Try This Then.....Candidacy For Operations Officer

The Operations Officer, who may also be called the Assistant Administrator, shall oversee all matters involving the internal and external operations of the Pirate Party, and shall also conduct all business as necessary in the absence or incapacity of the Administrator, and as the Administrator shall direct. The Operations Officer shall also have the duty to undertake the duties of those offices which shall be vacant, as they shall be from time to time, and to assist in the smooth transition of office from one administration to the next.
